“I don’t have any leadership experience.”
“I don’t have a manager title at work.”
“I don’t want to be in charge, just tell me what to do and I’ll do it.”
So, if you have said any of these statements, my question to you is: How true is that really?
Everyone is a leader is some way. Leading is the way we help move people, including ourselves, into action. The question is not: “are you a leader?” rather “how well do you lead?” The answer to this depends on how conscious of a leader you are.
What is the difference between a conscious leader and an unconscious leader?
- A conscious leader has high levels of self-awareness and accountability. They are fully aware of how their decisions, actions and behaviors can impact others.
- An unconscious leader can be driven by ego and is completely unaware of how their decisions, actions and behaviors can impact others.
Is it possible to shift your mindset and become a conscious leader?
Anything is possible, there are no limits to the personal growth that you can achieve. Mastering self-awareness begins with recognizing your core values, thoughts, emotions and feelings that compel you to act in a certain way. When you dig deep within yourself and identify these things you begin to recognize how they affect your attitude and behaviors. This is when the conscious leader begins to emerge from within you.
When you allow yourself to choose your thoughts and actions you are defining the reality you live in and you are present in the moment. Being present allow leaders to respond to challenges and opportunities rather than reacting to them. A truly conscious leader tends to lead and respond with positive energy. This energy can be contagious and compels others to also look at things in a positive way and strive towards greatness. An important part of leadership is the ability to inspire and engage others to move in a positive direction and to accomplish something.
